Water consumption at the Center
In 2023, the Dansaert Center consumed more than 2,000 m3 of water. Logically, this consumption depends on the flow of activity, with peaks in spring and summer.
Controlling this consumption is therefore both an economic and an ecological issue.
How is water consumption characterised?
Routine water use relates to sanitary facilities, tenants’ activities and building maintenance. These uses can be controlled according to each individual’s activity.
Occasional operations (works, redevelopment) can also lead to peaks in consumption.
What should be checked to ensure that water is used properly?
There are two aspects to take into account if you want to reduce your water consumption: the quality of discharges and the volume consumed.
As far as the quality of waste water is concerned, the Centre is gradually replacing the use of its products with products that are less harmful to the water discharged. At the end of 2023, the issue of the presence of pollutants (in particular PFAS) in Brussels water rekindled the link between consumption and impact on the aquatic environment.
With regard to water volumes, the reflexes to adopt focus mainly on the use of certain equipment (flushing toilets, dishwashers). Consideration is being given to installing low-flow taps.
If a leak is detected at the Center, you can report it to us at customercare@dansaert.be.
